Michelle’s counseling approach is direct, genuine, and based on biblical principles. Treatment plans can be individualized for your specific needs. Michelle’s experience includes working with issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Substance Use/Chemical Dependency, Eating Disorders, Self Harm, PTSD, Marital and Family Conflict, OCD, Rape, Grief/Loss, Divorce, and childhood physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Some clients’ needs dictate weekly appointments. Others are seen far less often or only for a few sessions for Brief Solution-Focused Therapy. Education and Vocational History She has communicated practical solutions for today’s problems in the office, facilitating groups, and at conferences across the country for over a decade. She earned a B.S. in Education from Baylor University and a M.A. in Counseling from Amberton University. She also received theology training from Criswell Bible College, Dallas Theological Seminary, and Trinity College and Theological Seminary. Current and previous rganizational affiliations include the International Coaching Federation, American Association of Christian Counselors, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and Texas Counseling Association. Upon graduating from Baylor, Michelle taught English, reading, journalism, and English as a Second Language to inner-city and suburban high school students. A licensed minister, she has served as church staff in positions ministering specifically to women, children, and adolescents. She previously wrote and directed life-enrichment seminars for The Road Adventure. She recently worked as the Crisis and Support Counselor for Allen ISD under Safe and Drug Free Schools and teaches Marriage and Family Counseling at Dallas Christian College as an adjunct professor. Counseling and Coaching Training Her counseling training includes not only individuals and couples, but also art and family therapy. When performing premarital counseling she uses the PREPARE as an assessment device where most of her marital counseling assessments come from her Gottman training. She also has facilitated groups for Fun Ed, Equally Yoked Singles, and the Mungadze Association at Cedars Hospital for victims of childhood trauma including sexual and ritual abuse. Michelle’s coaching training includes a variety of classes and conferences focusing on lifestyle and stress management, effective business practices, career transition, and leadership development. She is also a Certified Personality Trainer with Class Services. Personal Information and Commitment to Ministry Michelle comes from a family where ministry is a way of life. Her husband Andrew is holds a Ministry and Leadership degree from Dallas Christian College and works for the JHD Group. Her parents are currently serving with Mission Aviation Fellowship. A lifetime member of Weight Watchers, Michelle believes in a balanced, wholehearted approach to life and is committed to incorporating the principles she talks about into her everyday walk with God. Michelle sees ministry as a way of life, but is very concerned about honoring others and valuing the freedom of choice God has given each individual. When speaking to community groups, she believes that she can be most effective by delivering relevant and practical information while honoring their request that she not include religious references. Additional Information Michelle accepts many types of insurance as an in network provider and all insurance as an out of network provider. She is also on the panel of numerous employee assistance programs.
