Counseling Approach Jimmy’s counseling approach is relationship oriented. His desire is to be honest and compassionate with his clients. Jimmy’s counseling comes from biblical worldview. Treatment plans can be individualized for your specific needs. Education and Training Jimmy received both his Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Divinity from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. Jimmy served as a Minister of Students for 18 years, 7 years at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene and then 11 years at First Baptist Church here in Allen. During his time in youth ministry, Jimmy felt a strong sense of wanting to grow in his ability to help and minister to people who are hurting. He received his Masters of Arts in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. Jimmy is under the supervision of Michelle Nietert, M.A., LPC-S. Background and Experience Because of his background in student ministry, Jimmy has extensive experience in working with adolescents and their families. He has also led several parenting seminars at several churches in the area. As a parent, Jimmy participated in a 10-week training in Child-Parent-Relationship Play Therapy at the University of North Texas. Jimmy is involved in his local church in childrens, student, and adult ministries. Treatment Areas Play therapy, family conflict, adolescent issues, anxiety, depression, pre-marital counseling, marriage counseling, self-esteem issues, relationship issues Treatment Modalities Each individual is unique. Jimmy will base his sessions and treatment planning on the needs of the individual. Jimmy uses Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. Christian counseling is available upon request. Personal Statement I want to help people reach their full potential. Ephesians 2:10 states, “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” My desire is to help people to see their value and worth and to help them overcome their personal struggles that can keep an individual from progressing relationships and in life. I feel a strong calling to help teenagers and their families learn to be successful as individuals and as a family unit. My desire is to meet each client where they are in life and help them to achieve the goals that they have set for themselves and to walk with them as they travel on that journey.
